What's New For the 2021 Toyota Tacoma?

Toyota adds two new options packages to the Tacoma lineup for 2021: the Trail and Nightshade special edition packages. You can get standard Toyota Safety Sense P and a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa on all Tacomas.

Which Features Are Available for 2021?

Toyota offers the Tacoma in six trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The base SR model is perfect for drivers who need a truck for daily commuting. It comes standard with Toyota's easy-to-use Entune infotainment system, which features a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa are included for easier smartphone integration. You'll also appreciate the truck's three USB ports.

A significant upgrade on the SR5 trim is its power-adjustable driver's seat. Keyless entry and a 4.2-inch driver information display are also found on this trim.

Featuring a sports-tuned suspension and standard V6 engine, the Tacoma TRD Sport offers more driving fun on the street. A hood scoop gives it a more robust look. You'll also find a few more conveniences on the inside, such as wireless charging and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Drivers who plan to tackle the rough backcountry will enjoy the TRD Off-Road model. Some of the truck's rugged upgrades include Crawl Control technology, a front skid plate, and off-road shock absorbers. A JBL premium audio system gives your music a more exciting sound.

The leather-appointed Limited trim is for drivers who seek more luxury. While built-in navigation makes traveling more rewarding, a Panoramic View Monitor helps ensure easier parking.

Serious adventure seekers will love the tough-nosed TRD Pro model. It comes loaded with upgraded FOX performance shocks and a thicker TRD skid plate. A more aggressive front fascia further separates from the rest of the lineup.

Several options packages are available on the SR5, including a Technology package only with the V6 (blind-spot monitoring with rear-traffic alert), Dynamic navigation package (rear parking sensors, a navigation system, only with the V6), and Trail Special Edition (unique trim on seating, 120-volt bed outlet, all-terrain tires, only on the Double Cab with V6).

TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road get the same packages: Technology (rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert), Premium Audio and Dynamic Navigation (JBL premium audio system, navigation system), Premium Sport (heated front seats, sunroof, and leather upholstery), and Advanced Technology (360-degree camera system). You can get the Nightshade Special Edition package (includes black exterior styling elements and wheels).

2021 Toyota Tacoma Power & Performance

When shopping for a new Tacoma, you'll have two reliable engines to choose from. A proven four-cylinder engine with 159 horsepower comes standard. If you need more muscle, move up to the beefy V6 engine. Toyota rates it to develop 278 horsepower, which raises the truck's maximum towing capacity to 6,800 pounds.

2021 Tacoma Safety Technologies

You can always trust the new Tacoma to keep you secure. A valuable collection of accident-avoidance technologies called Toyota Safety Sense P comes standard. Highlights include pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring is offered as well.
