At its research campus in Saline, MI, Toyota has launched the all-new Toyota Battery Center of North America. Measuring 30,000 square feet, the advanced testing center is set up to test and validate battery cells manufactured at Toyota's North Carolina plant and regional production centers.

Skilled engineers at the location will test battery benchmarks and innovate new power solutions across Toyota's hybrid, hydrogen-powered, and electric vehicle portfolios, staying true to the automaker's strategy of advancing various powertrains simultaneously. Scope of work will cover initial raw material analysis down to recycling protocols, expanding Toyota's regional testing footprint.

The facility will also collaborate with the University of Michigan Electric Vehicle Center, allowing university researchers access to state-of-the-art testing equipment. This alliance is structured to help cultivate and assist future battery engineers and technical specialists.

Toyota's primary focus with this facility is strengthening fundamental battery research and development in tandem with manufacturing expansion. Targeting hybrid and plug-in hybrid battery systems demonstrates Toyota's responsiveness to steady, enduring consumer interest in hybrid vehicles.

The unveiling of the Toyota Battery Center of North America clearly indicates that great milestones lie ahead for Toyota. While we await future production models driven by these cutting-edge battery innovations, our lot is stocked with a tremendous lineup of brand-new Toyota vehicles.
