The GR86 Makes Its Debut at the GR Cup

The Toyota GR86 made its debut at the GR Cup, an annual event sponsored by Toyota Gazoo Racing. The car is based on the GT86 but features a more aggressive design with a more pronounced grille and rear wing.

The R Cup is a one-make race series sanctioned by SRO America. The series will use the Toyota GR86 as its race car. The series will be contested over seven weekends in 2022, with each event featuring two races.

The R Cup will have its standalone class within SRO America-sanctioned events. It will allow the series to operate independently from other racing series.

The R Cup will be open to both amateur and professional drivers. The series will offer a prize fund to the winners of each race.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing brand was established in 2015 and is Toyota's motorsports division. The brand is responsible for Toyota's participation in the World Rally Championship, World Endurance Championship, and the GR Supra GT Cup.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is also responsible for the development of the GR86. It was developed under the guidance of Tetsuya Tada, the chief engineer of the Toyota 86.
