What's New for the 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

The new, highly awaited 2019 Toyota 4Runner has undergone only minor updates this time around. There is one significant upgrade worthy of highlighting, and that is the Nightshade Edition Package and the TRD Pro trim upgrade.

The Toyota 4Runner was introduced in 1984, it was the successor to the Trekker, which was produced between 1981 and 1983. Toyota engineered the first line of 4Runners based off of the Hilux short-bed pickup truck, also a Toyota product. It was not until the fourth generation that the 4Runner underwent serious changes, both on the exterior and interior.

Going into 2019, the 4Runner is one of the longest running production vehicles. And even though Toyota saw it fit not to do much in the way of drastic change, the mid-size sports utility vehicle has stood the test of time, remaining a favorite of car buyers globally.

Furthermore, the Toyota 4Runner has been one of the top four-wheel drive SUVs chosen by off-road enthusiasts. They are among the many Toyota 4Runner fans looking forward to the revamped TRD Pro model due to its beefier look.

Which Trims and Features are Available in 2019?

A few of the TRD Pro upgrades that stand out is the new roof rack, new 17-inch alloy wheels in a matte-black featuring the TRD logo, sporty red lettering displayed on the front skid plate, as well as a one-inch wider rear rack.

And whether you are cruising around town or four-wheeling out in the wilderness, the new Entune JBL Audio System, which features an App Suite and integrated navigation system, will keep you well entertained the entire time.

Nightshade Edition offers black chrome moldings, cool black front and rear bumper spoilers, window moldings, and roof rails. This classy urban model is a variant of the 4Runner Limited, sporting 20-inch wheels and a unique black exhaust tip.

A few other little changes involve the choices you will have when it comes to exterior paint. The new 2019 Toyota 4Runner will come in "Voodoo Blue" rather than the classic Cavalry Blue. Blizzard Pearl will continue to be a premium color, costing the buyer extra compared to the standard factory colors.

Additionally, Toyota updated the roof rails in a way that allows for differentiation between models. For example, the SR5 and Premium models will have silver rails with black caps. The 2019 Toyota 4Runner Limited features silver caps, and will no longer be available on the SR5 and Premium trims. Falling in line with its black theme, the TRD and Nightshade models sport have an all-black design.
