Mark your calendars! Before you indulge on all that delicious food at your family’s Thanksgiving feast this year, be sure to take part in the 22nd annual Turkey Trot at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24.

The timed 5K run/walk is one of the largest Thanksgiving Day fun runs in the Show Me State; and for good reason. Each year more than 7,000 runners lace up their shoes and hit the pavement in the city’s downtown to get some exercise, and mingle with friends and family at this fun-filled extravaganza that you won’t want to miss.

The best part? All proceeds go toward benefiting the Springfield-Green County Park Board Scholarship and the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. In addition, the event is also one of the biggest one-day food drives of the year. In 2015, it collected food items that provided approximately 6,500 meals for those in need in the Springfield area.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather, as this is a rain, snow or shine event. We hope you will take part in all the excitement that this Springfield tradition has to offer!
